On Thursday, the ruling party took to the streets to spread some love to random strangers.
"ANC staffers are spreading some Madiba love outside Luthuli House this morning," the tweet read.
He posted another tweet with more photos, captioning it:
"God Bless the Staffers and all those who are taking their time to celebrate #MandelaDay2019."
A couple of social media users were not too impressed by the ANC's act of kindness, Briefly.co.za gathered.
Kagiso, who goes by the Twitter handle @IamKagisoZ, commented: "Flowers supplied by Bosasa."
Another tweep, @Nobuhle_Zikode, added: "I don't know how I feel about this. But ke..."
However, Akanyang told the trolls that they should focus on spreading the love instead of negativity.
"Those giving the flowers, and receiving them know how they feel about this. Spread some positivity today," he wrote.
