Itumeleng Khune has not been deemed fit to play and will miss the match against Orlando Pirates in the Carling Cup next weekend.

The Kaizer Chiefs shot stopper will therefore also be ineligible for the friendly against Township Rollers over the weekend.

The 33-year-old suffered a serious shoulder injury and has been out of action for seven months.

Milner said, “He has made considerable progress, but we will only be able to ascertain his readiness to play at the beginning of August.”

Briefly.co.za understands that Khune has earned more than 70 000 votes to participate in the Carling Cup.

However, his exclusion will lead to the votes being reallocated and this could lead to Bruce Bvuma getting a starting berth.
