On Sunday, DA leader Mmusi Maimane took to social media to throw shade at Ramaphosa. Maimane said the head of state should use his own money to defend himself in court regarding the findings of the public protector.

"I will request that the President gives assurance that he will not be using public money to defend himself in a matter regarding campaign finance. He raised enough money for his campaign, he can raise the same for legal defence," Maimane wrote.
