One of SA's most talented footballers has celebrated another milestone in his life and we're here for it.

On Monday, 22 July, Thembinkosi Lorch turned 26 and wanted to honour him by gathering five quick facts about him.

1. Early life

Thembinkosi Lorch was born on 22 July 1993 in Bloemfontein. He kicked off his career in 2013 after signing with Maluti College, a TVET College club founded in 2008, The South African reported.

2. He used to play for a club owned by his dad

Before moving to Maluti College, Lorch played for Mountain Eagles in Ficksburg - a club owned by his father, Lorch Senior.

3. Award magnet

In 2019, Lorch walked away with the Absa Premiership Footballer of the Season and Players' Player of the Season titles during the PSL Awards.

Taking to social media, the 26-year-old gushed about the great honour it was.

"I cannot express how grateful I am! I can never thank each and everyone enough that believed in me. I am truly humbled and honoured," he wrote on Instagram.

4. Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) hero

Lorch was hailed a hero after he netted the winning goal in the 85th minute of the round of 16 clash off a counter-attack move.

The goal meant Egypt, the host country, was knocked out of the tournament and Bafana was given another day to live.

5. He has idols too

According to the Orlando Pirates' official website, Lorch is a big fan of his fellow midfielder, Thulani Serero.
