- News anchor Lindi Sirame took to social media to praise her grandmother
- Sirame revealed her gogo worked as a domestic worker for more than 40 years
- She added her grandma's hard work enabled her to get through school
On Tuesday, news anchor Lindi Sirame took to Twitter to share how her grandmother's hard work helped her get to where she is.
Briefly.co.za gathered her gogo worked for more than four decades, earning only R2 000 a month. Despite not making a lot of money, her gran put her through school.
"My gran who was a domestic worker for 40+ years put me through school earning R2 000 a month. I cannot tell you how PROUD she was on this day. We shared a room with a stove, TV and bed, I cringe every time someone calls me a cheese girl. I’ve worked for everything I have," she wrote on Twitter.
The post inspired social media users, who applauded both Sirame and her gogo for working hard.
Twitter user, @RosieMotene, commented: "Stand tall and be proud of who you are. Remember it’s not what they call you but what you answer to!!!"
Luzuko Nobongoza, who goes by the Twitter handle @TSP_Dimera, added: "I don't know what the world would be like without Mothers/Females...I really don't know. Congrats to you and granny for everything she did for you."
Emile sloan, @sloan_86333, said: "Your gran is an amazing woman. May you continue to do well and make her proud."
