The KwaZulu-Natal Premier commented on this during his budget announcement in the provincial legislature, reports The Sowetan.
Zikalala, whose office was allocated R714 million to look after the province for this financial year, says the state will continue to give support to the trust, transferring funds accordingly:
“His majesty the king serves as a symbol of unity in KwaZulu-Natal and continues to be the custodian of Zulu culture, an important defining character of this province."
King Zwelithini will enjoy the government's support to host traditional events such as the annual reed dance, amaganu ceremonies and the first fruits ceremony.
The Premier revealed that a revenue-generation plan is in the pipeline for the trust and is due to be implemented this year.
“The plan will take advantage of public-private partnerships as catalysts for revenue generation in the long term."
