- The EFF has said that their support for Busisiwe Mkhwebane is based on principle, not because they are her fans
- This comes as Floyd Shivambu has stressed once again that the EFF will be taking the matter between Mkhwebane and Pravin Gordhan to the Constitutional Court
- However, some have suggested that the EFF's animosity toward Gordhan may be driven by their own problems involving tax issues and corruption
EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu says that the Red Berets side with Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane as a matter of principle, not simply because they are her fans.
Shivambu added that the EFF was still on Mkhwebane's side, saying that he believed the judge who ruled in favour of Pravin Gordhan on Monday was in too much of a hurry to side with the Public Enterprises Minister.
Shivambu also reaffirmed Julius Malema's pledge that the EFF would take the matter to the Constitutional Court.
This comes after Mkhwebane's attempt to stop Gordhan from interdicting the remedial orders against him was unsuccessful, Briefly.co.za has gathered.
Shivambu, however, says he is unhappy with the judge's decision. According to The Citizen, he said that he believed the judge was racist. In particular, he said that Judge Sulet Potterill was biased towards Gordhan's "white male representation".
Shivambu made similar remarks this week on Twitter. In one tweet, he claimed that South African judges were "united in defence of the capitalist establishment".
However, some analysts have suggested that there may be other reasons for the EFF's animosity toward Gordhan and their support for Mkhwebane.
For example, some have speculated that the EFF may wish to discredit Gordhan and SARS as a result of their own legal battles involving tax issues and corruption.
