- Kelly Khumalo's fans defended their favourite singer on social media following new and uncalled-for accusations
- Their singing idol was blamed for Senzo Meyiwa's dad, Sam Meyiwa's death on Monday
- Sam Meyiwa suffered a second stroke which led to his passing
Mzansi singer, Kelly Khumalo’s army of fans stood tall to defend their idol after she was blamed for the death of Senzo Meyiwa’s father, Sam Meyiwa.
Sam Meyiwa suffered a second stroke which led to his death on Monday morning. He had the first stroke in August last year.
Family spokesperson, Nathi Ngwenya, confirmed the news and told TimesLive that the family was in a state of shock.
Soon, social media was flooded with messages mourning his death and pointing out that he died without seeing the men responsible for his son, Senzo’s murder, being brought to book.
But sadly some of the social media users turned on Kelly Khumalo, who was Senzo’s girlfriend at the time, and accused her for Sam dying “of a broken heart”.
The trolls repeated the claim that Kelly was somehow involved in Senzo’s murder and was withholding information from the police.
Kelly previously made it clear that she was not going to allow people to “abuse” her or accuse her of killing Senzo.
“I’m not going to sit back and let you abuse and accuse me of something I have nothing to do with. I have co-operated with the law, gave all the necessary information. If there’s one thing I will never do is take the fall for something I know nothing about. I will fight till my last breath because that’s who I am,” said Kelly in a statement last month.
Kelly has been quiet on social media regarding the latest hate, but her fans were ready to defend their queen.
Kelly’s fans took to social media, filling timelines and making Kelly a trending topic on Twitter.
About a month ago, Briefly.co.za reported that Kelly Khumalo opened up about how she feels women are treated unfairly and as a result, Mzansi is divided between supporting her and being scornful. The subject of Senzo Meyiwa's death is still a sore one.
Kelly Khumalo opened up to her fans on Instagram about how she feels regarding the way women are treated by society.
