1. Shepherd Bushiri

Shepherd Bushiri, aka Major One - the leader and founder of the Enlightened Christian Gathering Church - is one of the beloved and most controversial prophets in the country.

Bushiri, who hails from Malawi, has made headline numerous times over the past several years. Most recently a video went viral which showed a "mighty" whirlwind forming outside his church as he prayed on God to show his glory.

Despite the amount of backlash Bushiri has gotten and many dubbing him a fake prophet, many still follow him.

2. Alph Lukau

Earlier this year, Lukau made headlines when a video surfaced on social media which allegedly showed him resurrecting a man during one of his sermons.

Lukau has since tried to explain the incident, adding he only completed a miracle God had already started. However, regardless of the controversy, Lukau still has many followers.

On Facebook, the 'resurrection pastor' has 907 000 followers - which is a lot lower than Bushiri's 3.7 million likes, but it is still an impressive following.

3. Prophet Mboro

Coming in third is the man who was once believed to have visited Heaven and taken photos as proof. Prophet Mboro, the founder of the Incredible Happenings Church, has since rubbished claims that he said he went to heaven and took pics.

However, Mboro made his presence known in South Africa and he has a social media following of 77 000 people.
