Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that Stuart Baxter announced his resignation during a private press conference.

Baxter said the decision to step down with immediate effect was a personal one he made on his own.

South Africans were left divided by the news but those who felt Baxter failed welcomed it. Taking to social media, football fans nominated who they believe should succeed Baxter.
