SA surgeon returns home after receiving training at Harvard University

- A South African plastic surgeon has returned home from the United States

- Dr Thendo Netshiongolwe received training at the Mayo Clinic and the Massachusetts General Hospital

- Since getting back, Dr Netshiongolwe has already started operating on patients in need of surgery

On Thursday, the Limpopo Department of Health took to social media to gush about the return of Dr Thendo Netshiongolwe.

Dr Netshiongolwe is a qualified plastic surgeon, Briefly.co.za gathered. According to the post, the SA doctor spent a couple of months in the United States where he received training in hand and microsurgery.

The training was done at the Mayo Clinic and Massachusetts General Hospital - which is the largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School.

The post added Dr Netshiongolwe has already started hand surgeries on Mzansi patients at the Mankweng Hospital since he's been back.

His story inspired social media users who were happy to hear that SA doctors have been receiving quality training from top medical schools.
