- Tom Moyane shared his thoughts on the lack of diversity at SARS
- In a social media post, he said that when he started at the company, there was diversity but now it's gone
- Social media users had mixed reactions about his post
Tom Moyane took to social media to share a throwback about his first few days on the job at SARS. He commented on how there was racial diversity in those days, but now there is none. Unfortunately his post was not met with positive reactions.
The Twitter post read:
"When I joined SARS, EXCO had only 2 Africans & 1 Indian, with the rest being white males. Our transformation agenda lead to 5 African males & 3 females. We also added 18 Group Executives on African Females from 4. Seeing the reversal of all this so quickly is really painful"
The responses were mixed. Twitter user R3ndani said:
"The problem is that we are a non racial society. Do we just hire to meet the transformation agenda or we hire competent people?"
While Mekwasebetlela said:
"I hear you @t_moyane, only concern is when you put people like that IT lady who embarrassed herself on National TV. Granted, English is not our first language, she simply didn't seem to know her story. Let's put females in those posts yes, but capable ones, not favours"
SjavaLava agreed, saying:
"We can't transform for just merely transformation sake. Skilled, knowledgeable, competent, qualified and integrity should be top of mind surely when talking transformation...This is what all SOEs lacked and still lacking"
However, Velingobese_ZA said:
"Speak out Mr Moyane, the public is in the dark, stratcom propaganda must not prevail . The truth must prevail. You were demonized as corrupt, expose all the dirt"
