Political analyst Levy Ndou feels that citizens have the right to know how involved President Cyril Ramaphosa was in raising funds for his presidential campaign. This comes after leaked e-mails revealed that the president was more involved in the finances of his campaign than he previously claimed.
Levy Ndou feels that South Africans should know how involved Ramaphosa was in raising capital for his presidential campaign.
Briefly.co.za reported that leaked e-mails had been published by News24, revealing that the president knew more about his donors than he previously alluded to.
Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane had found Ramaphosa had misled Parliament when questioned over a donation from the infamous BOSASA group, reports SABC.
Ramaphosa has since taken the matter up on judicial review, but Ndou feels his team should just come clean:
“What we need to put on the table is that there’s nothing wrong in receiving donations for your campaign but there’s also nothing wrong in actually coming forward and saying these are the people who funded my activity because we all know that it actually required funding."
