A disadvantaged man was recently surprised with a trolley-full of groceries for his birthday. In the post shared on social media, the man was taken shopping and allowed to get whatever he needed.
The post was shared by Stephan on a Facebook page called Charity Begins With Me and it told the story of the sweet man named Percy. According to the post, Percy is a very warm and talkative man who loves sharing all he knows.
Stephan shared that he took the man to a Checkers grocery store and let him take whatever he wanted.
"I don't think he ever went into a shop with a trolley and so there was no method to his madness. Where most people would start on one side of the shop and slowly walk through once, we were all over the show."
The grateful Percy managed to get chicken, washing powder, eggs, cereal and plenty more, including a bottle of wine .
"I think he told every single person in Checkers that it was his birthday and that he was grocery shopping with me. Whether they wanted to listen or not was irrelevant."
The kind gesture was noted by Mzansi social media users who commented on the story. Facebook user Genevieve Diedericks said:
"I've only recently discovered your story and the amazing work you do but you've truly inspired me! I aspire to be like you. Thank you for spoiling Percy. Happy birthday Percy. May you have a truly blessed day!!!"
