Seswantsho Lebeya, Hawks boss, has confirmed that the unit is currently probing Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane. This comes after charges were laid by Accountability Now's advocate, Paul Hoffman.
Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane is currently under investigation by the Hawks after Accountability Now laid charges against her.
The group's Advocate Paul Hoffman laid the complaint against Mkhwebane but details at this stage remain unknown.
Briefly.co.za reported earlier that the corruption pressure group had laid criminal charges against Mkhwebane after the Constitutional Court had ruled against her for 'mistruths' in her ABSA/Bankorp report.
Mkhwebane has suffered numerous court losses over the course of the past few months, with the anti-corruption group leading calls for her removal.
The Public Protector had recently lashed out against the justices who had handed down the adverse ruling in SA's apex court, slamming them for playing the 'ball, not the man', reports EWN.
The Constitutional Court had set her report aside, ordering that her recommendations in the matter should be taken up on review.
