South Africans have met today's ruling in President Cyril Ramaphosa's bid to stall the Public Protector's recommended action against Pravin Gordhan with mixed reviews. From disappointment in Busisiwe Mkwhebane to a loss of faith in the court system, here's what citizens had to say.
Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane seems to be on a losing streak, with today's loss against President Cyril Ramaphosa arguably packing the most punch.
Briefly.co.za reported that the High Court had ruled in the president's favour, allowing him to postpone action against Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan until his matter was reviewed.
In the process, both the Public Protector and the Economic Freedom Fighters were ordered to pay costs relating to the case.
South Africans took to social media to share their views on the matter, with some voicing their disappointment in Mkhwebane's apparent rushed attempted to take on the top officials.
Others, unconvinced of the integrity of the nation's justice system, felt that this was an indication of a 'captured' judiciary.
Many felt that the EFF would not take the loss lying down, revealing that they would not be surprised if the Red Berets took the matter up on appeal.
Have a look at a few responses to the situation below:
