Edgars has received some backlash for releasing a T-shirt with a controversial slogan. The chain store was called out on social media

The slogan, "wooden spoon survivor" is unacceptable because it makes light of the violent climate of South Africa. This is according to Andrew Faull, senior researcher in justice and violence prevention at the Institute for Security Studies.

Taking to Twitter, he posted a picture of the shirt and said that it makes light of the family violence trend exhibited in the country.
