A man took to social media to share a moving story about how he met a very inspiring young man. Eugene Van Der Walt was driving on the gravel road between Stilbaai and Witsand when he saw a lone man walking with a backpack.

He decided to stop and offer him a lift - a decision that would change both their lives. In the 30-minute commute, Eugene learnt that the man's name was Siya. He is a 20-year-old walking solo from Ermelo to Cape Town. He had lost both his parents and was adopted by another family.

He left Ermelo in March and is planning to arrive in Cape Town at the end of August. Every night he sleeps next to the road, in the rain or wind. He has been robbed a few times. He said that he's doing this to clear his head. He also added that he took every step with Jesus.

Through his journey, he prays for every farmer that he passes, he prays for rain and healing.

Eugene then went on to express that it was a pleasure to meet the young man and see a glimpse of his life of adventure.

His post received an overwhelming response with many reaching out wanting to help and donate to Siya. Facebook user Wiebke Schutte said:

"Thank you Eugene for being a milestone and help Siya. You were the link sent from above."
