- The EFF has released a public statement slamming Cyril Ramaphosa
- In it, they allege that the president is working on behalf of "white monopoly capital"
- As evidence, they cite the report alleging to contain the names of donors to Ramaphosa's CR17 campaign
The EFF has released a public statement in which they have reiterated their claim that Cyril Ramaphosa is acting on behalf of the "interests of white monopoly capital".
As evidence, they cited the recent report which alleges that donors to Ramaphosa's CR17 campaign included several wealthy business figures such as billionaire Nicky Oppenheimer and former ABSA CEO Maria Ramos.
"Ramaphosa is a greedy billionaire whose survival is based on tax avoidance," EFF claims.
The Red Berets were referring to the report over the weekend which purported to contain names of multiple donors to Ramaphosa's campaign for the ANC leadership position, Briefly.co.za has gathered. The list also included Wits vice-chancellor Adam Habib, who has previously also been critical of the EFF.
In their statement, the EFF claims that Ramaphosa would have disclosed the names of his donors if he were truly transparent. They view the list of donors - and Ramaphosa's application to have some of the documents containing the donors' names sealed - as proof that Ramaphosa is not delivering the open and honest governance he promised.
"The EFF warned South Africa that Ramaphosa is not clean, transparent or ethical," the party said.
The EFF cranked up its rhetoric in the statement, slamming the president as a "greedy capitalist" and insisting that he was "digging his own grave", according to The Citizen.
