Mzansi singer and rapper, Gigi Lamayne, is all set to represent South Africa at the International Music Conference in Amsterdam later this year.

Gigi will not only be attending the event as a performer but also as an honorary guest. It is unknown what the conference considers in its selection of people to present their respective countries at the event, but Gigi has achieved the honour for her talent, style and as a successful woman in the hip-hop industry at such a young age.

The artist took to her Instagram account to share the exciting news with her fans. She wrote: “Happy to announce that I will be representing SA at this year's international Music Conference in Amsterdam as an honorary guest and performer! All I’ve ever wanted to do was reach for the stars and land in the clouds ! ⛅️ Thank you for prayers, well wishes and love!”

The event celebrates 18 years since its establishment this year and will take place at Melkweg in Amsterdam on 18 October.

Mzansi singer, Gigi Lamayne, has opened up about being a “darker-skinned girl” in the entertainment industry and revealed that an unnamed celebrity tried to convince her to consider bleaching her skin to further her career.

Gigi was recently interviewed by Sho Madjozi on Power FM, where they discussed the topic - colourism in the industry.

The rapper confirmed she was fully aware of colourism in the industry, saying she had been encouraged by another woman to bleach her skin if she wanted to get further in the industry.
