17-year-old, Siyacela Dlamuka, caught South Africa’s attention a year ago when he got engaged to his then 15-year-old girlfriend, Thando Mathebula.
Siyacela garnered even more attention when he was featured on the popular reality TV show, Moja Love, following the proposal.
The two got married in April and now, information has surfaced suggesting that Siyacela has decided to quit his schooling.
Sunday World reported that Siyacela has lost interest in his schooling and has chosen to drop out of grade 9 in order to focus on his marriage.
According to news website, Isolezwe, Siyacela’s father, Mthandeni Dlamuka, was contacted and confirmed that his son would not staying in high school.
Mthandeni expressed his disappointment in his son’s decision and his hopes that Siyacela will consider returning to school next year.
Siyacela’s father is a Bishop, and agreed to the marriage on the condition that the young couple remain celibate until after the wedding.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Siyacela’s wife, Thando, will be remaining in school and is doing well in her studies.
