Weddings do not have to leave you broke and with a mountain of debt. One couple proved that you can have your special day without breaking the bank.

Samkelo Khowa and his lovely new wife, Latoya, recently tied the knot and their nuptials only cost them R75.

Yup, Mr and Mrs Khowa managed to get married for under R100. According to the Daily Sun, the newly-weds paid R55 for a marriage certificate and R20 to release it.

“Nothing hurts like having a flashy wedding for a day and living with debt for the next three to five years,” the hubby said.

Khowa said he saved up for lobola when he landed a permanent job. He knew he wanted to marry Latoya, whom he met at a church sermon in 2016.

Khowa said after he paid the lobola, he spent R1 300 on Latoya's ring and he splashed another R350 on his own.

Now, both of them can enjoy married life without debt.

“We are both happy and debt-free," he said.

Meanwhile, the Khowas are not the only ones who opted for a cheap wedding. Briefly.co.za previously reported that another couple, Miriam Christina and Soko Sam, had an inexpensive wedding yet their stunning photos wowed social media.
