Opera singing Uber driver Menzi Mngoma is headed to Hollywood to showcase his talent. The man shot to fame after a passenger named Kim Davey shared a video of him singing for her while on a trip in Durban.

After Davey posted the video on social media, the Uber driver's life changed forever. The video has since received over 500 000 views and landed Mngoma several gigs. Briefly.co.za gathered Mngoma, a 27-year-old musicology graduate, works an an Uber driver to make ends meet but he has an exceptional talent - he has the ability to sing opera and his voice is just amazing.

Speaking to SowetanLive, he said that he has even been to Cape Town to perform.

He will be headed to Hollywood in December to perform at a five-day talent convention. He will be among thousands of international artists presenting their talents to the world. There will also be talent scouts, giving Mngoma a chance to be recognised.

Mngoma is currently fundraising for his trip. He still works as an Uber driver and says he thoroughly enjoys his job.

"I still enjoy meeting people on trips, who get excited to travel with me. They take photos with me. I feel like a special person. I get offered lunch and drinks."

Briefly.co.za previously reported that the talented driver was left emotional after receiving a generous donation. In a heart-warming update, Mngoma received an unexpected call from Martin Bester. Bester and the rest of the Jacaranda FM team made contact with Mngoma to share that they’ll be donating R5 000 to aid him in supporting his family.
