- Lerato Sengadi, the widow of late music icon, HHP, shared a painful recent experience and used it to inspire other women
- Her wedding ring doesn't fit her anymore, but she's taking it as a way to show she's a survivor
- Lerato is using this to give other women hope and let them see that they too can survive heartache
HHP's widow and well-known publicist, Lerato Sengadi, recently opened up about something traumatic that happened to her.
While it may seem like a small thing to others, it was painful and reminded her that her soulmate is no longer here.
She shared that her ring no longer fits her, but also used the experience to inspire other women and widows.
"A few weeks ago I had something traumatic happen to me. As mundane as it may have seemed, it was super shocking and heart breaking. I woke up one morning, got ready for work and as I was putting on my beautiful ring that Motho gave me, it literally slid off my finger.
"My once perfectly fitting, specially selected, symbol of love had now become so big that if I wore it I would definitely lose it. I stood there and looked at my naked ring finger.
"My Motho isn’t here. His physical symbol of love could no longer be a daily part of me."
Many women wear their wedding rings until the day they die, but Lerato won't be one of them.
However, she found a way to put a positive spin on things.
"But guess what? The next morning I woke up. I actually woke up. I didn’t die. I survived yet another traumatic experience which was a by-product of a larger traumatic experience.
"We are strong! We are survivors! Celebrate your victories. No matter how small and mundane they may seem to others. You were strong enough to survive life’s daily lashings. And THAT makes you more magical than any unicorn could possibly be!"
