Courier crew robbed, caught on video: "This is an inside job"

A courier crew was robbed while attempting to make a delivery in Randburg recently. The incident was caught on camera and has left Mzansi concerned.

The video was shared by South Africa Live and showed two crew members waiting outside the gate of a building. As they were waiting to be attended to, another car pulled up behind them and at least two other men stepped out. They proceeded to force the delivery men to empty their van and took all the parcels.

The footage has received almost 2 000 reactions on social media and has left many disturbed and angry. Facebook user Glen Grimett said:

"Had the exact same thing happen while I was receiving my parcel from my regular The Courier Guy driver. Held at gunpoint and bakkie taken."

Others suspected that there was more than met the eye, with Vincetumza Setuke saying:

"This is an inside job. Courier guys are working with these guys."

Nontokozo Nhlapo said:

"Actually courier service are a hit trend now, I knew they would think of this. We get expensive things delivered to our doors. There’s a lot of merchandise people order online. No wonder the delivery guys hoot and get so impatient, it’s because they avoiding all of this. Now I see."

Felicia-Anne Jocelyn Verschuur said:

"I'm glad that no one was hurt, at least from what I saw - but this makes me so angry. What if what was being delivered was medicine or school materials or important documents? I hope the drivers don't get in trouble and I hope that all the people get their parcels and that the robbers get caught."

South Africans were recently left horrified over a video which showed that thugs are now posing as courier drivers. Earlier this week, Yusuf Abramjee shared a video on his Twitter account which showed an attack in Robertsham, Johannesburg. gathered the video showed a man talking to a thug, who posed as a courier delivery employee. After several moments, the thug pulled out a gun and started shooting at the unsuspecting man.
