Catfishing is pretty common on the internet - people are often fooled into believing they're talking to someone when it turns out that person looks totally different and was only using them.

It's not often that people pretend to be celebrities and get away with it though. However, a man was recently tricked into buying airtime for a stranger impersonating gorgeous celeb, Bonang Matheba.

What does Bonang have to say about this?

"If you believe you’re talking to ME, then you deserve to get catfished."

You'd think that people would double-check information before sending money to a stranger, but unfortunately, this man was too eager to get a shot at impressing Bonang.

He even sent double the amount he was asked for.

According to TimesLIVE, the fake Bonang asked for R100 airtime for herself, then R50 for her sister who was 'stuck in traffic' - that's when he gave more than asked for.

Bonang doesn't feel sorry for the man - if he fell for something so laughable, he doesn't deserve her pity.
