- Aevin Dugas has an Afro that is truly something to be impressed by
- Dugas' 'fro is a major commitment, it takes her a whopping two days to wash and set it
We all know how it is quite an uphill task to maintain long, natural hair. However, some girls and women overlook the challenges and go ahead to rock long natural hair with pride.
A Louisiana-born lady, Aevin Dugas, happens to be one of the many women doing all they can to maintain their long natural hair.
Dugas recently made it to the Guinness World Record book thanks to her large natural afro that has been the envy of many.
The lass set the record for the largest Afro in the world, UK's Daily Mail reported.
While her hair brought her great achievement, it has not been all easy for her maintaining and preparing it, especially when she wants to go out.
According to Dugas, it takes her up to two days to wash and dry her afro if she has to go out of town.
To maintain her hair, she shampoos and applies five different conditioners.
Speaking in a recent interview, Dugas said she was inspired to grow her hair after seeing a picture of her mother wearing an Afro during the ’60s.
Dugas added that she has always wanted to send a message to black women and girls all over the world that they do not need to straighten their hair to be beautiful.
“At one time, I strived to get hair that was bone straight, and now all I want is it to be big and poofy. I don’t know why, but there’s something very important to me about little girls appreciating my hair and then wanting to wear their hair the same. I tell them there is nothing that I did special; there is no magical formula, we are born with our hair like this," she said.
It is understood that Dugas also runs a care home.
