Mzansi muso and producer, Riky Rick, got tongues wagging at this weekend, when he moved a wheelchair-bound fan to the front of the stage at one of his gigs.
Riky was performing at the Durban Varsity Fest, hosted at the Pavilion Shopping Centre in Durban at the weekend, when he spotted a wheelchair-bound fan and made an effort to give him a front-row seat in the crowd.
According to TshisaLive, fans at the show said he asked people in the front to step back a few metres to make space to bring the fan forward and in front of the stage.
A video that went viral on Twitter shows Riky asking the fan where he would like to go, and to screams of “that way”, grabbed the man’s wheelchair and rushed forwarding, all while dancing along to his songs.
But Rick’s gesture received mixed reactions from social media users.
Those who did not like what they saw, commented that it looked more like a church meeting and did not think it was the safest move by Rick. Here are some comments:
But the majority of followers, defended Rick and said that he always embraced all his fans. People commented that the fan probably had the time of his life and it was a kind gesture that Rick had done for his fan.
