- Mirwa’s contract was only set to expire in June 2021, but the left-back has agreed to the termination of his contract
- The news seemed to polarise opinions as many supporters shared their disappointment
Kaizer Chiefs shared the announcement on Tuesday that Letlhogonolo Mirwa has parted ways with the Glamour Boys.
The defender’s contract was only set to expire in June 2021, but Mirwa has agreed to the termination of his contract.
The 24-year-old is now a free agent and will look to join a new club in a bid to increase his playing time.
Mirwa previously performed admirably at Buya Msuthu, but hasn’t been able to make the first team at Naturena.
However, Daily Sun reported that the left-back played in the Multichoice Diski Challenge and the Maize Cup final last season.
Kaizer Chiefs have now completed an intense player overhaul with many high profile exits from Naturena.
Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung said:
“Look, at times players come here at the back of good performances and highly recommended. However, with all intents and purposes, some players fail to make the expected grade and some with their immense talent can’t adapt to our demanding set-up"
Briefly.co.za observed the reaction from Amakhosi supporters as the news was shared via Twitter.
TUMO LITALI (@TUMOPHONIK) commented, “You Really destroyed this boy with so much Talent yet you keep Useless Zulu because he is coaches favourite.”
Ayakhanya Khoselihle (@Tobisani1) said, “Long overdue, thanks Makhosi and all the best to him in the future.”
Not Bouga luv (@kabeloMatlejoan) added, “This team likes to think bona ke Sundowns and just sign players for fun...this guy is and was never Chiefs material. Bobby can disappoint U sometimes.”
Ria Tenda Trust (@NtwanaYaModimo) responded, “But Mirwa is way better than Nityantiya. This is unbelievable.”
