Handful of SA celebs praise Robert Mugabe as they mourn his death

Despite leaving behind a rather tainted legacy, many people have taken to social media to tribute and honour Robert Mugabe, the man who reigned over Zimbabwe for many years. Several SA celebs also had good things to say about Mugabe.

Former Zimbabwean president, Robert Mugabe, has died, aged 95. After a battle with illness, one of Africa's most recognisable political leaders has passed away after seeking medical attention in Singapore.

The country's current president, Emmerson Mnangagwa, took to social media to pay tribute to his predecessor.

So did some South African celebrities, Briefly.co.za noticed.

Gigi Lamayne is of the opinion that Mugabe was a great idealist but bad executor.

Toya Delazy feels that the former Zim president was 'a stubborn patriot, a crazy one... but an African patriot.'

Outspoken poet and activist, Ntsiki Mazwai, also had something to say about the people who were calling Mugabe a murderer for the things that happened during his time as president.

EFF leader, Julius Malema, a celeb in his own right we'd say, was saddened by the news of Mugabe's passing. He hopes the 'giant of the African revolution' and his legacy will not be forgotten.
