Many football followers believe that a degree of aggression and fighting spirit serves players well in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
Orlando Smeekes must have used these strengths to his advantage as the former Maritzburg United player always dreamt of becoming a professional kickboxer.
The Dutchman scored five times and represented Maritzburg on 35 occasions in the PSL.
Soccer Laduma reported that Smeekes officially took up kickboxing in 2018 after he retired from football.
His first taste of the PSL came during the 2012/13 season.
Briefly.co.za was able to establish that Smeekes played for 11 different clubs in various countries throughout his career.
Smeekes took to Instagram and called on his social media following to support him for his first bout.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Smeekes’ first opponent will be Tamas Kossenberg on 5 October in Holland.
The versatile sportsman also works as a creative fashion consultant.
