Thanks to his dedicated mom, local dancer could be off to US

Local dancer Emilio Ruiters and his mom, Marylin, don’t have a lot of money to spare, but that doesn’t mean that Emilio’s mom won’t try her best to make sure her talented son achieves his dreams.

When an exciting audition opportunity presented itself, to attend the iPOP! Convention in Los Angeles, Marilyn knew she had to do whatever she could to get Emilio there, Parent24 reported.

Getting to the audition was a difficulty for Emilio, as he and his mother live in Ocean View, in Cape Town, while the audition was scheduled to take place in Port Elizabeth.

Marylin wouldn’t let a lack of funds stand in her son’s way and so, with the help of the community, Marylin put together a raffle and all her own cash that she could find, in order to make sure that Emilio would make the audition.

Emilio’s mom also wanted to be a dancer when she was growing up, but her family’s financial situation made it impossible for her to achieve that dream.

Now, she makes sure that she is there to support Emilio and goes out of her way to make sure that the same thing that happened to her doesn’t happen to her son.

"I was thinking about myself, because there was no one helping me when I wanted to do it,” Marylin explained. discovered that, although there were some hiccups along the way, Emilio made it to the audition, thanks to his amazing mom.

Even though Emilio thought he had botched the audition, he received a call-back, asking him to attend the iPOP! Covention in the US.

Now, Emilio’s mom is helping to raise money for his trip to America.

"She is literally my pillar of strength … amazingly independent and smiles through the toughest of times,” Emilio gushed about his mom.

A funding campaign has been started to get Emilio to LA and the young dancer is almost at his goal, thanks to the help of his dedicated and loving mom.
