Women have dominated news headlines of late in South Africa, but largely for unfortunate reasons.
However, the City of Cape Town shared some inspirational news as a Capetonian woman created a little piece of history.
Marilyn Holding was recently appointed as the Law Enforcement Department's first female assistant chief.
Briefly.co.za learnt that Holding took over in her new role at the start of September, as Women’s month drew to a close.
It is also understood that Holding designs wedding gowns during her down time.
The news was shared via the City’s Facebook page and numerous enthusiastic social media users praised the hardworking lady.
Jacquelene Peterson commented, “Congratulations Marilyn, well deserved.”
Samaria Kock said, “Congrats Marilyn... well-deserved and very proud of u.”
Kylie Kyla van Wyk added, “Congratulations Marilyn Holding and well deserved. Great woman to work with.”
