The South African Police Service has released the crime statistics for the 2018/19 period. In the statistics, the top 10 most dangerous regions in Mzansi were revealed.
Over the course of the year since the release of the last statistics, 2.01 million crimes were reported in South Africa.
Briefly.co.za reported that the seemingly escalating surge of criminal activities had sparked the Total Shutdown Movement.
The SAPS revealed that Cape Town central, the heart of one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country, had ranked at the top of the list with over 13 000 crimes reported.
Johannesburg central reached second place, with 12 199 crimes reported, slightly down from the previous year's statistics by 0.2%.
Mitchell's Plain, another Western Cape area, took third place with over 11 000 crimes reported and a minimal improvement of 0.1%.
