South Africans are up in arms as the nation wakes up daily to news of rape, murder and abduction. This has prompted calls to shut down the country in an attempt to put an end to the surge of crime and hopelessness.

As more focus is being placed on the treatment of South African women and femicide, people are talking about what women can do to protect themselves. did online polls to get an idea of how Mzansi feels about women killing their rapists in self-defence.

One poll was held on Facebook, and 90% of voters said 'yes', women should be allowed to kill anyone who tries to rape them.

In a Twitter poll, 91% of the votes were for 'yes'.
