- Dubbed the Buthelezi quintuplets, Mzansi fell in love with Siyanda, Sibahle, Simesihle, Silindile and Sindisiwe
Over the last two decades, only three sets of quintuplets have been born on South African soil.
The birth of the Buthelezi quintuplets made national headlines last year after their mother, Prudence Dlangisa, shared the story of how she had struggled to conceive only to be blessed with five times the love.
Dr Moeng Pitsoe had shared the journey with Prudence, from prescribing medication to induce ovulation, to a scan that revealed three babies and finally the surprise that greeted them when five bundles of joy were brought into the world.
Briefly.co.za reported at the time that Siyanda, Sibahle, Simesihle, Silindile and Sindisiwe had been born at 30 weeks, all weighing over a kilogram each.
An all-South African team had helped oversee the happy occasion at the Clinix Botshelong Empilweni Private Hospital, with the hospital helping the mother and dad, Joe, set up a trust to aid in caring for their unexpectedly large family.
