Lungisa Xhamela, former Idols SA finalist, has spoken up about the death of his friend, Thami Shobede. Thami's passing came after he got sick, but Lungisa thought he would recover.
Singer Lungisa Xhamela was close to Thami Shobede, the young musician who passed away very recently.
Lungisa says it's a difficult time for those who were close to Thami, who died in Kalafong Hospital, Pretoria, according to TimesLIVE.
Briefly.co.za reported that Thami's record label, Gallo Record Company, confirmed the news. It is believed that the singer collapsed while performing on stage over the weekend.
Lungisa feels that his friend has gone way too soon, Mzansi needed more of his music.
"It is hard to express how much we will miss him. He gave us one album but I feel like one album is not enough. He was such an incredible talent."
He admitted that he didn't think Thami's sickness was very serious.
"I didn't take it seriously. I thought he would be fine. I didn't know what was going on, only that he didn't feel well."
Just a few weeks ago, they were planning on making music together. Lungisa says he wishes he had started on that earlier. He regrets not making time for Thami.
"I feel shattered that I was too busy with my own project and couldn't go into studio like we had promised. I would spend my last moments just doing what we both love, and that is making music. I would embrace and cherish every minute with him."
In a post on Instagram, Lungisa said his soul is gutted.
