- Manamela said getting his degree was a dream come true
Anything is possible to those who push the limits. A young man, Thabang Manamela, walked the graduation stage at the University of Pretoria last week.
However, Manamela is no ordinary student, Briefly.co.za gathered. Manamela is blind, yet despite not having sight, he pushed through and obtained his LLB degree from Tuks.
According to a post on the University's Facebook page, Manamela lost his sight as a child.
“Pardon the cliché but this is a dream come true. Achieving this LLB is symbolic of the fact that if I want something, I can and will get it no matter what. I know now that I really am in charge of my life and all my career aspirations,” he said.
His story inspired social media users, who applauded him in the comment section.
Menzi Buthelezi commented: "He is one one the most legendary personalities I've ever gotten to learn from. Kudos to Thabang. I am indeed privileged to known such a great person."
Dawn Sheila Fuge wrote: "Congratulations sir. May you be an inspiration to many others and may you achieve all your dreams and goals."
Vagelis Mantzaris added: "All the best brother. Salute to you, your loved ones, your teacher and your university."
Chris Setlhako said: "Congrats to him! Wish him well in his career!"
