- A boy celebrated his 8th birthday by sacrificing his own needs to help those in need
- He asked friends and family not to buy him gifts, but to purchase books instead
- The young man then donated all the books to a school in an impoverished community within Diepsloot
Most young children count down the days until their next birthday in the hope of getting their favourite toy.
Christian Paine looked forward to his 8th birthday, but for completely different reasons.
The Grade 2 learner at Crawford Prep in Fourways made an enormous sacrifice as he asked friends and family not to buy him a birthday gift.
Instead, he called on them to purchase books and games instead.
In an incredible show of generosity, Christian then took the books and donated them to Mother Touch Academy.
The NPO run a pre-school which serves 120 needy children in the impoverished Diepsloot community.
Mother Touch Academy shared the news via their Facebook page and displayed their immense gratitude towards Christian and his mother, Shanda Piane.
Briefly.co.za admired the beautiful photos showing Christian having fun with those he blessed.
Laurie Greer commented, "Such generosity from such a young man. Making a difference in so many young lives, he truly is a credit to his parents and the school."
Sandra Charlton added, "What an amazing young gentleman."
Shelley Miller said, "Wow - perfect values to teach a young man - well done to his parents."
Steven Themba Teise commented, "What a child he is."
