- Mamelodi Sundowns crashed out of the MTN8 Cup on Wednesday following a 2-0 defeat to SuperSport United
- Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has won almost every piece of silverware available, but still hasn't tasted MTN8 success in six years of trying
- In a bid to break the cup voodoo, Mosimane suggested that the Brazilians might need to employ the services of a sangoma to taste success
Every year, Mamelodi Sundowns go into the MTN8 Cup as favourites and every year they come crashing out early.
Sundowns were expected to beat SuperSport United on Wednesday to advance, but they were humbled 2-0, making it the sixth year in a row that the Brazilians exited early.
Coach Pitso Mosimane has flooded the Sundowns trophy cabinet with silverware during his reign, but the MTN8 Cup has proved elusive.
TimesLIVE have now reported that Mosimane is willing to try anything to break the cup voodoo.
Mosimane said, “I don’t know why this trophy keeps on eluding us‚ I wish I knew. Maybe we need a good sangoma here‚ what can I say.”
However, the Brazilians mentor was quick to point out that the team must accept and move on from the loss.
Mosimane added, "It is part of life and even good teams lose‚ we must accept it and move on."
The Sundowns coach acknowledged the efforts of SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo and feels that he needs to win the cup.
