- South Africans are unhappy with the crime in the country and it's understandable why. But that doesn't mean there aren't police officers who are trying to make a difference
- Police Minister Bheki Cele is happy with work done by KwaZulu-Natal police who managed to foil a robbery
- It might seem like no big deal but every success is a win for the police
Police Minister Bheki Cele is happy with the work done by officers in KwaZulu-Natal, SABC News reports.
The officers managed to foil a robbery, arrested a suspect and recovered firearms in a sting operation that Cele calls a success. In addition, 9 suspects were gunned down during a shootout with cops in Isipingo, south of Durban.
The suspects allegedly wanted to rob a business but were met with the police when they arrived, Briefly.co.za gathered.
According to SABC News' report, Cele said:
"I’m told that those were known criminals, well prepared to go … look at the kind of the weapons they had; the AK47’s that were there. So, I think (the) police here were well prepared for the operation. I’m waiting for a full report, especially from the provincial commissioner."
Although people may scoff at the operation and say it's nothing to boast about, every successful day finished by the police is a win in South Africa's fight against crime and disorder.
