Emmy winners announced: Comedian Trevor Noah's 'Daily Show' missed out

- SA-born comedian, Trevor Noah, missed out on the award after his show, The Daily Show, was nominated in the Outstanding Variety Talk Series category

Emmy Awards are American awards recognising excellence in the TV industry. It is presented at numerous annual events held throughout the year, each honouring one of the various sectors of the industry.

Sunday, 22 September saw Trevor Noah, Mzansi's favourite export, miss out on the Outstanding Variety Talk Series award.

Trevor's show, The Daily Show, was nominated but Last Week Tonight With John Oliver scooped up the title.

Although it's sad that Trevor didn't win, he is still our fave comedian TV host. It's clear that he's adored - he's got more than a million subscribers on YouTube and almost 5 million followers on Instagram.

Well, who needs awards when you know you're loved by your fans?

On a different note, Briefly.co.za noticed that it was a great night for super-popular show, Game of Thrones.

TimesLIVE reported that the show's Peter Dinklage won Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and the show itself won the top award, Outstanding Drama Series, for its final season.
