South Africans celebrate Heritage Day on Tuesday, also known as National Braai Day, and a group of residents will be able to consume free alcohol during the festivities.
This was as a result of a beer truck coming to a standstill on the side of a road.
It didn't take the locals long to sense the opportunity and a large crowd flocked to the scene to start looting.
SAPS officers were on the scene, but were powerless to stop the determined mob.
South Africa Live shared the video via Facebook and it's currently trending as more than 500 responses were sent.
Briefly.co.za sensed that many were outraged by the actions of the looters, but many pointed finger at the cops for just watching it all unfold.
Others found the incident hilarious and jokingly suggested that the officers were helping the less fortunate.
Drikus Janse van Vuuren commented, "The police parked strategically to avoid the truck from leaving untill all the contents is redistributed to the 'less fortunate.'"
Tayo Onas said, "Wow. Incredible, robbery on the highway road. Very Sad, they must be hungry for beer not real food."
Nconyar Kay added, "And the police look on unconcerned what a lovely country."
Michael Varaud Nuakoh responded, "With this kind of life and you’re there blaming foreigners. I would not be surprised of investors pulling out of business. Trust me."
Sanele Brian Dube said, "It's nice to see our officers in action. we need more blues monitoring these situations."
Letoy Ankiah added, "A huge thank you to SAPS for monitoring the situation. It was a peaceful looting without any injuries or fighting regarding sharing the beer. Indeed a proud moment... working together to steal more."
Crynos Mabiza commented, "Next they are going to be looting the beer manufacturing plant, wait and see. These people would never loot a textbook delivery truck, never."
