A Swedish man took to social media to pen a heartfelt letter about his love for South Africa. The man who married a South African woman is now based in Cape Town.

Martin Persson posted on the Facebook group called 'ImStaying'. He opened up the letter by saying that he stays in South Africa by choice.The 43-year-old has lived in many countries around the world but has fallen in love with Cape Town.

He said it's not only the place that he loved but the friendliness and the genuineness of complete strangers.

"From the car guards to car drivers flashing their hazard lights to say thank you, such a small gesture but it means so much"

He went on to say that he admires South Africans ability to laugh at themselves whenever a crisis strikes.

"Eskom comes to mind and the memes and jokes on the internet were hilarious"

He spoke of the beauty of the mountains and the coastline and the "raw beauty of the African bush". The Swede supports his home country in football but supports the Springboks in rugby.

"I love this country and I'm staying"
