- Julius Malema has responded to Helen Zille's request for tea and a debate with what she has dubbed a 'lame joke'
- The EFF leader snubbed the offer to discuss South Africa's future asking the former premier if she was lost
- Instead of engaging with her on her podcast, the Red Berets boss directed her to the SASSA offices
Julius Malema has slammed Helen Zille's offer to appear on her podcast for a 'no-holds-barred' discussion on South Africa.
Briefly.co.za reported that Zille had invited the EFF leader to join her on her new show for a cup of tea whenever it suited him.
Malema, on the other hand, jabbed at the ex-DA leader with a spicy retort poking fun at her age:
"I think you are lost, are you not looking for SASSA offices?"
Zille seemed unimpressed by the response she received, sticking to her guns over her offer:
"Are you seriously ducking out of the debate with a lame "joke"? Let's discuss the future of our country on a platform where we can go beyond 280c and get beneath the surface slogans."
Citizens had differing opinions as to why Malema had opted out of getting involved. Some felt that the EFF leader simply wasn't interesting in boosting the ratings of her show with his presence, others that he had chickened out of the encounter.
Many felt that Zille should have approached the subject while she was at the height of her political career.
Irrespective, it seems as if Malema won't be moved to take Zille up on the offer and the whole thing has garnered plenty of attention:
