About six months ago, Briefly.co.za reported that Mzansi’s first ever locally-acquired TV series to make it onto Netflix, Shadow, was set to drop. This is a huge moment for the South African digital entertainment market.
Two local superstars, Pallance Dladla and Amanda Du Pont, played the lead roles in the action-packed series. Everything about this series is 100% Mzansi.
Briefly.co.za learnt that the entire series was filmed in Johannesburg on a tiny budget with a strong vision. The vision was to show Mzansi in its raw and natural form whilst creating a storyline that would interest a global audience.
The storyline was based around an Mzansi detective, Shadow, who has a superpower, the power to feel no pain. It showcases the unjust justice system and shows the rawness of people having to take matters into their own hands.
