- Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane was roasted on Thursday following an interesting speech he made recently
- Maimane addressed a crowd and emphasised that the DA is a party for all South Africans and that the party is not exclusive to any particular race
- However, social media users made an astute observation that Maimane was the only black person in the room and shared some hilarious responses
DA leader Mmusi Maimane was mocked via social media following the release of a speech that he made.
Addressing a small gathering, Maimane emphasised that the party wants unity and that racial exclusivity would not be tolerated.
The DA shared the tweet via Twitter and included the following caption:
"If you get black people who think the DA is only for blacks, then they shouldn't be in the DA. If you get white people who think the DA should only be for whites, then you shouldn't be in the DA. We want a party for all South Africans"
Maimane's speech was seemingly well received by the small crowd as they applauded the DA leader.
However, tweeps made an astute observation that Maimane seemed to be the only black person in the room.
Social media users couldn't help but point out the irony of it all and Briefly.co.za noted some of the amusing responses.
Twitter user @thabz061 commented: "He started with black ppl so that he doesn't upset white ppl even though we knws what he really wanted to say is the 2nd statement."
Mfaras (@MPatuleni) said, "Lol , I don't think they all agree with you @MmusiMaimane, just look at this clip again and see the fake clapping from those on the far-right, just observe they are dragging the clapping."
Sir Davos SiR (@drivaboyreloade) said, "Hai fuseg... All the people in there are white... Mxm."
Yourgirl.mo (@moja_motheo) added, "Literally the ONLY black person in the room."
