An Italian Astronaut, Luca Parmitano, might be in outer space but he is not missing his home team taking on the Springboks in the Rugby World Cup on Friday.

Luca Parmitano is a huge rugby fan and thanks to World Rugby, the astronaut won't miss a moment of his country's team taking on the South African side.

Briefly.co.za gathered the Rugby World Cup shared a video of Parmitano making a special shout-out ahead of the do-or-die World Cup match for the Boks.

"The rugby mad Italian fan will get to watch #RSAvITA from the International Space Station thanks to a special broadcast feed produced by World Rugby on Friday," The post revealed.

Parmitano compared rugby to the team work on the International Space Station, adding:

"We on board the International Space Station have to collaborate with a team of astronauts and ground personnel from all over the world in order to achieve our objective, “our try”, which is space exploration, technology and science."

The Springboks are set to take on Italy on Friday, with the match kicking off at 11:45am.
