Herman Mashaba recently opened the Kaalfontein Bridge which is set to help children safely travel to nearby schools.

The opening had been disrupted by protestors reported from the ANC and SANCO, with Mashaba commenting:

"Their mission to disrupt this event was borne out of frustration of seeing the multi-party government swiftly deliver on projects that should have been delivered long before the political changes which arose of out the August 2016 local government elections."

President Cyril Ramaphosa, who had been in full swing campaigning for the 2019 General Elections, had paid the area a visit vowing to mobilise the government.

Mashaba had been adamant that funding meant to go to the township had been looted during the ruling party's administration.
