SAPS honours officer who cancelled vacation to trace missing person

A remarkable police officer received the credit he deserves from his employer, the South African Police Service (SAPS).

Warrant Officer Mankgoane James Mothupi lives the values by protecting and serving his community, albeit at his own expense at times.

The revered cop even went so far as to cancel his vacation to track down a missing person.

Using his experience as a Railway Unit member, he applied his detective knowledge to successfully locate the person and reunite the family.

Officer Mothupi works at the Diplomatic Policing Unit and for him, being a policeman is more than just a job.

He said, “Being a police officer is not a career for me, but a calling: The best part of my job, is putting a smile on the faces of those who rely on our services. I am looking forward to the Safer Festive Season operations to turn the tide against crime. Remember, fighting crime begins with Me and You.”
